GLENN BURKE WELLNESS Clinic

Welcome to Oakland's Glenn Burke Wellness Clinic (GBWC), a project of the Oakland LGBTQ Community Center, working in partnership with
LifeLong Medical Care. Please see below for a list of sexual health services  available at our clinic. 

 

Monkeypox (MPOX) Vax Clinic:
In our effort to help as many community members as possible receive 1st or 2nd dose MPOX vaccinations and reduce the spread of MPOX virus, Alameda County Public Health Department in partnership with Oakland LGBTQ Center, will be hosting MPOX vaccinations on the following days:
 

  • Tuesdays, 11am-4pm,  walk-in Mpox vaccinations inside of the Center's Glenn Burke Clinic. No appointment necessary for
    Mpox vaccinations. 3207 Lakeshore ave., Rand ave entrance.

     

  • Please be aware that weekend MPOX clinics are on hold until further notice.
     

Men who have sex with men (MSM), gay men, bisexual men, pansexual men, transgender and GNC individuals, and sex workers are encouraged to get vaccinated.

 
No appointment necessary.  Walk-Ups welcome. All registrations will be done on site. Please bring proof of first vaccination to receive 2nd dose.


Note: Kaiser patients should check with Kaiser to receive the vaccination due to our limited supply.  Kaiser Oakland patients should call 510-225-8233. Contra Costa residents should call 925-313-6740,  option 2 or 3  to confirm vaccine availability and schedule an appointment. If you believe that you are experiencing symptoms associated with MPOX, please self-quarantine  and contact your medical provider for instructions. If you do not have a provider,  please  email monkeypox@acgov.org

The Center's GBWC offers the following LGBTQ+ centered & affirming services :

  • Medical benefits enrollment for low income individuals

  • MPOX vaccinations

  • Hormone injection assistance & gender care referrals

  • HIV/STI/STD testing and treatment

  • Linkages to rapid anti-retroviral treatment (ART) initiation

  • PEP & PrEP enrollment

  • Injectable PrEP

  • Anal Health (fissure, anal warts, rectal GC/CT) treatment and management

  • Contraception counseling & management

  • Hepatitis C screening and management

  • Tele-health (from home) sexual health testing & treatment/PrEP

  • Free safer sex packets (condoms, lube, etc.)

  • Saturday Pop-Up sexual health & MPOX clinics

  • Linkages to primary care providers

  • Wellness services coordination & care management

  • Youth sexual health counseling and support services

  • LGBTQ + peer support group services


We also offer linkages to other services such as emergency rental and housing assistance, food,  mental health,  substance use disorder linkages,  legal resources  and  more.  

Most of our clinic services are free or can be covered by your medical provider. We can also help you enroll with a medical provider if you don't have one. Our services are offered through a unique collaboration between the Oakland LGBTQ Community Center & LifeLong Medical Care, with capacity building support from the San Francisco AIDS Foundation . The Glenn Burke Wellness Clinic is conveniently located inside of the  Oakland LGBTQ  Community  Center at 3207 Lakeshore Ave. (please use the Rand ave entrance)
